2. In an individual conflict, the student leader utilizes active listening techniques, acknowledges their role in the conflict, and reaches mutual agreement on a path forward.
Evidence- At my job, I work at Whiskey Tango Fitness and am a front desk assistant to my boss and members, I had to deal with my first angry customer. They were quite mad when they walked in I treated them with "Hello, how are you doing?" and they replied with I'm fine and then proceeded to bombard me with demands and questions. The problem was is that their daughter was enrolled for one of our group teen classes and the parent wanted to unenroll her from the classes. They had tried to do it online and it had not worked so they came into the faculty and so on and so forth. So then after we had gone back and forth with questions and answers I had solved the problem by getting the customer in contact with the person running the class, because we have multiple business running through the facility I had not exactly known how to unenroll their daughter since it was not the business I am employed by, and then in the end we had successfully got their daughter unenrolled in the class and they left the facility.
Personal and Social Development
Standard 3: Social and Emotional Learning
1. The student leader identifies emotions, thoughts, and values that impact behavior and self efficiency.
Evidence- In my life I have had a very hard time dealing with my emotions and I hadn't really done much to try and improve in processing and dealing with them. But in high school more than ever I have to deal with them so that I can excel in all aspects of my life, so I am making small steps like this notes folder. I have nailed down some of the "antidotes" to a lot of things I go through on a day to day basis so I can not let one thing ruin my whole day I can always look back at this and try and see if there is anything I can do to decrease the severity of the situation.
Civic and Service Learning
Standard 3: Community Service
3. The student leader experiences and recognizes the benefit of serving others.
Evidence- At palm beach for a trip with my local church I and a group of other youth went to Santa Cruz near the palm beach area and protested against human trafficking, I still remember everything like it was yesterday, I had started many chants and lead many people to do the same. During the protest I remember numerous cars honking and people happy to see the protest and I remember going up to a random car window because they were wondering what we were doing so I explained everything and they ended up very moved by our mission there.
Government
Standard 1:Authority and Governance
5. The student leader contributes to committees and or councils and recognizes how the committees and/or councils benefit the student leadership team.
Evidence- This year I was on the Leadership Feast Council and the day of feast me and the other people on the committee put in a lot of work to get everything ready and make everything look nice and I realized that it was all worth it because we all grew closer as a leadership class. I learned that something just as simple as a meal with friends can really improve your day, week etc, and it had the same effect on other members too.
Business and Finance
Standard 1: Finance/Accounting
5. The student leader maintains accurate and accessible financial documents.
Evidence- I recently got a job and because I am not 16 years of age I don't have a valid source of ID so I can't get a debit card, and my checks can only be deposited in a 30 day window and if I don't deposit them then I won't be able to have the money I worked for. So I have been depositing my checks into my parents account and keeping track of all may checks by taking pictures of them if and only if I have deposited them. I also keep track of my spending and have savings "accounts" set aside so when I do get an account I can set up and disburse my money with the pattern I have, 15% of my checks go into my savings account but because I have 2 savings accounts I factor out 30% leaving 70% for spending money.
Technology and Digital Citizenship
Standard 2:Digital Citizenship
4. The student leader manages personal data to maintain digital privacy and security for themselves and others.
Evidence- At my job I have to help new clients sign up for the classes so I have to put a waiver they signed on file for them. It used to just be a paper waiver that I would put into a filing cabinet but now we have switched to all digital. So now I have to ensure that all clients information is safe and secure on our current website by making sure everything transfers smoothly and ensuring that their information along with mine is in the website.
